If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated. My fiance just found out he may be the father of a 2 year old. We are waiting to have the DNA test run. This is our dilemma. We are scheduled to move this summer to another state. If he is the father he wants to give up paternal rights, just to keep the mother out of our lives. He feels it would be more harmful than good to try and share custody from one state to another. We believe the mother is just after money. We would have no problem providing health coverage for the child, but we do not want a cent going to the mother. She uses it for herself and not the child. Has it ever been done that what money he may have to pay in support, be put into a college fund for the child instead. That way the child will have some choices for its future. We are also raising my own 3 children and are not sure how this will affect our own financial situation. My childrens father is desceased. My fiance is a wonderful man,and has taken on an entire family as his own, so please do not judge him for what he wants to do to preserve that. I pray that the DNA test will prove he is not this other childs father, but if he is then we want to have some sort of knowledge as to what our rights are from state to state.
